HERE’S THE LOW DOWN

Our Puppies

We take great care to raise each of our puppies on puppy curriculum to prepare each one for their forever home. We want to ensure your experience with your new puppy is just as amazing as ours—joyous.

FROM DAY ONE

Raised on Puppy Curriculum

We begin ENS and ESI training with our puppies at day 3 of life to day 16.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) is a simple and quick daily training that helps aid our puppies development, strength and coping mechanisms. These trainings are simple and gentle stressors that help boost brain development, improve their circulation and immune system and are proven to advance their stress responses later in life.

ENS consists of a few simple handlings which are:

  • physical stimulation
  • thermal stimulation
  • lying the puppy in the flat position
  • being held with their head up and held tilted upside down

We document each puppy’s response to these movements daily.

Early Scent Introduction (ESI), is another beneficial training we perform daily. This simple process enhances their ability to identify and react to something new. During this curriculum we introduce a new scent and record their response as neutral, positive or negative depending on if they want to move in closer to sniff, move away or show an uninterest in the scent performed. Scent introduction is used to create a more aware and alert dog, studies have shown that stimulating a puppies nose to new things has been proven to dramatically increase their scent abilities later in life and believe it or not, these tools can be potential for saving a life.
Potty training begins at approximately 2.5 weeks of age. We begin with a potty mat for the puppies while their eyes are still closed. Once they are mobile and able to see, we graduate to a puppy grate with pellets for a designated relief area.

By the time puppies are old enough to go outside (approx. 4 weeks of age), we begin working with each puppy individually each morning as part of their daily routine, and do many potty trips outside to have them close to completely trained by 8 weeks of age.

We begin the crate training process at about 3 to 4 weeks of age. When the puppies begin eating gruel and weaning off of mom, they are able to be away at length. Dogs are den animals and should feel as their crate is their safe place, getting them adjusted alone without mom and littermates is the hardest part of the process but in the end so worth it.

Family-raised means these little babes are part of our every day. Being a family of six, we always have things going on. Routines and schedules are important to us in our everyday life to operate smoothly and successfully.

We pride ourselves on giving our breeding program the same–structure of a daily routine and schedule sets our puppies up for success just the same!

TESTIMONIALS

Kind Words from Our Puppy Families

BREEDER LOVE

“Deidre & the entire DLD family are exceptional. Our family was blessed to get our furever companion from DLD and from the beginning we were treated like family. DLD has created a community through their pups and goes above and beyond for all of us. I would absolutely go through her again and have already recommended many friends. DLD treats every single pup as if they were their own and they were staying with them for life – it’s not a job for them, it’s a family. 💙”

BREEDER LOVE

Deidre and her family went above and beyond with our sweet Jasper boy. You can tell that they really have a heart (and a ton of knowledge) when raising newborn pups. We had such an easy transition with our pup and I attribute that to the fact that DLD spent the time to get every pup on a schedule. Prep the family responsibly. And overall kept us well informed throughout the entire adoption process.Very grateful for everything! And our litter pup chat makes my heart smile. 🐾🤍🥰
